Wow, what a fabulous day the students helped me have! The room is full of flowers and we've had a good day together. Thanks! Wow, the snack signup sheet is almost full. Thank you to all who have signed up to bring a snack. It will work out well if you bring your snack next Monday or Tuesday. I'll store them all and determine a good selection to be offered each day.

We only have about 30 days left of school. It seems like the year is only half over and then, suddenly, we're almost done! We'll have our final math test this coming Thursday. The reflection, rotation (turn), and translation (slide) problems are very straightforward, but also have your child continue reviewing how to add or subtract fractions with different denominators. These will be on the test again, as will naming fractions as decimals and percents.

There are two important events for Country Lane coming up. First, CL's day at the Earthquakes is May 4th and tickets must be preordered by Thursday, April 25th. The cost is $20 per ticket and CL receives $5 for each ticket sold.
Second, this Saturday, April 27th, there are two showing of "School House Rock", the musical many of our 4th graders are performing in. Times are 4:00 and 7:00, tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. I've been hearing their practices twice a week and I can assure you, the show will be fabulous! I'll be attending the 4:00 performance and hope to many of you there.

Math Unit 8 test is tomorrow. The students have both a study guide and review packet to help them prepare. If you have time, quiz your child on the method used to find the area for a parallelogram and a triangle. This was just introduced and some students may not be ready for a test on it.
The only other homework for the rest of the week is to correct the Unit 7 test they got back today.

Reminders: Cookie dough orders and money are due Wednesday, April 3rd. Checks should be made out to CLH&SC. Also, we go to Sacramento this Thursday. Students need to be here at 7:10 and they need their own sack lunch in a disposable bag, not a lunch box. Watch the weather. Right now, The Weather Channel is showing a 60% chance of rain in Sac. on Thursday.

The AR program is still down for the transfer to the full access system, but Mrs. Ott reports it should be available by the end of the week.
ELA Flex: No homework except to take the AR test for By the Great Horn Spoon when the AR system is back up. Today was the last day for these groups. Next week we start our concentrated review of ELA and math concepts in preparation for the STAR test in May. This will take place during our normal ELA time.

What a fabulous field we had to Filoli. We say many types of plants and wildlife and heard lovely birdsong as we hiked among the trees with our vary knowledgeable docents. Thanks to Mrs. Brodrick, Mrs. Chiam, Mrs. Daisy Chen , Mrs. Mandy Chen, Mrs. Nukala, Miss Korb and Mrs. Wolters for chaperoning on this more rigorous hike. We appreciate you!!

We received an email from Mrs. Ott today letting us know that the AR system is now unavailable. Students were able to take AR tests up to now, but will not be able to do so until further notice. We hope this will only take a week and we'll have access to all available AR tests by the end of next week.
ELA Flex - Oops, I forogt we weren't having ELA today (due to it being Mrs. Taylor's birthday), so both Meeting #4 and the Spelling/Vocabulary test will take place tomorrow. My class will be on the Filoli field trip Monday, so there will not be ELA that day either. Tomorrow the students will pick up the last worksheet they need to complete for By the Great Horn Spoon. This paper will be due next Tuesday, March 20th, but the only class time they will have to work on it will be a bit of time tomorrow after their meetings.
Writing - Most students finished their editing os the haircut essay and turned it in. A few students need to do that for homework tonight.
Math - Begin the Unit 7 Review packet. This is not due until next Tuesday, March 19th.

Only Mrs. Walker's class has reading homework. If your child is in her class, he or she needs to read Patty Reed's Doll to page 22. Also, there is one vocabulary page to finish by Thursday.
For my regular class, there is a Preposition worksheet, page 27, to complete and bring back tomorrow.
