Tuesday, March 26th

Language Arts: Complete the 'Something Fishy' Garfield writing.

Math: Study Links 8-3 and 8-5. We are skipping Lessons 8-2 and 8-4. This is a short unit and the test will be next Wednesday, April 3rd.

Tuesday, March 19th

The AR program is still down for the transfer to the full access system, but Mrs. Ott reports it should be available by the end of the week.

ELA Flex: No homework except to take the AR test for By the Great Horn Spoon when the AR system is back up. Today was the last day for these groups. Next week we start our concentrated review of ELA and math concepts in preparation for the STAR test in May. This will take place during our normal ELA time.

Language Arts/Science: Draw a picture of a scene or event that you found memorable on our Nature Hike at Filoli yesterday. This is due Thursday, but we will write about it in class tomorrow. Remember to do your best work since we may have these up during Open House.

Math: Study for the Unit 7 test. The test will be on Thursday.

Monday, March 18th

What a fabulous field we had to Filoli. We say many types of plants and wildlife  and heard lovely birdsong as we hiked among the trees with our vary knowledgeable docents. Thanks to Mrs. Brodrick, Mrs. Chiam, Mrs. Daisy Chen , Mrs. Mandy Chen, Mrs. Nukala, Miss Korb and Mrs. Wolters for chaperoning on this more rigorous hike. We appreciate you!!

By the way, no homework today, but remember, the Review packet for Unit 7 of the math is due tomorrow.

ELA Flex: Finish the book and your last icon paper. Your last meeting will be tomorrow.

Thursday, March 14th

We received an email from Mrs. Ott today letting us know that the AR system is now unavailable. Students were able to take AR tests up to now, but will not be able to do so until further notice. We hope this will only take a week and we'll have access to all available AR tests by the end of next week.

ELA Flex - Oops, I forogt we weren't having ELA today (due to it being Mrs. Taylor's birthday), so both Meeting #4 and the Spelling/Vocabulary test will take place tomorrow. My class will be on the Filoli field trip Monday, so there will not be ELA that day either. Tomorrow the students will pick up the last worksheet they need to complete for By the Great Horn Spoon. This paper will be due next Tuesday, March 20th, but the only class time they will have to work on it will be a bit of time tomorrow after their meetings.

Writing - Most students finished their editing os the haircut essay and turned it in. A few students need to do that for homework tonight.

Math - Begin the Unit 7 Review packet. This is not due until next Tuesday, March 19th.

Social Studies - The typed Mission Reports are due Tuesday, March 19th.

Tuesday, March 12th

Permission Slips for our nature hike at Filoli are due tomorrow. Since we go on this trip next Monday, it is important that we get these permission slips in.
I will return the Mission Rough Draft papers with any corrections I think need to be made in tomorrow's Wednesday Envelope. Please be sure to check for it.

ELA Flex: Read to page 159 in By the Great Horn Spoon and complete your 4th icon paper. This is due Thursday. Study for the Spelling/Vocabulary test, which will be on Friday.

Language Arts: Finish writing your first draft of the narrative story about getting a haircut.

Math: Practice Set 48 and 49, pages 79 and 80.

Tuesday, March 5th

We've survived the State Writing Assessment! The students enjoyed the prompt and so I imagine they will score well. Next, we have MARS testing. We'll be doing this Thursday morning this week and Tuesday morning next week. Please be sure your child gets to bed early and has a good breakfast.

Also, remember the Mission Rough Draft paper is due Thursday.

Homework

ELA Flex: Read to page 100 and complete the icon paper you are responsible for. Due Thursday.

Language Arts: Complete the two Weather Idioms worksheets.
