Monday, April 29th
We only have about 30 days left of school. It seems like the year is only half over and then, suddenly, we're almost done! We'll have our final math test this coming Thursday. The reflection, rotation (turn), and translation (slide) problems are very straightforward, but also have your child continue reviewing how to add or subtract fractions with different denominators. These will be on the test again, as will naming fractions as decimals and percents.

Monday, April 22nd
There are two important events for Country Lane coming up. First, CL's day at the Earthquakes is May 4th and tickets must be preordered by Thursday, April 25th. The cost is $20 per ticket and CL receives $5 for each ticket sold.
Second, this Saturday, April 27th, there are two showing of "School House Rock", the musical many of our 4th graders are performing in. Times are 4:00 and 7:00, tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. I've been hearing their practices twice a week and I can assure you, the show will be fabulous! I'll be attending the 4:00 performance and hope to many of you there.

There are a number of different HW items today so be sure to check in with you child to see that all get done. Also, an envelope for Spring Pictures went home today. They will be taken tomorrow!
Language Arts: In your planner, write at least one word you see in writing tonight or already know that uses the 5 Latin roots we've learned this week: aqua, gen, mater, bio and spec.

Social Studies: Finish writing each of the 5 paragraphs in pencil in your brochure. We will color and do pictures in class.

Language Arts - Answer the 'Cat-sup Caper' questions in essay form, not as a list.

We've had a great day, though some of us were a bit slow to wake up. I hope your Spring Break was as relaxing as mine. I only wish I'd accomplished everything on my To Do list!
Homework:
Math - Study Link 9-1. Also, the Family Letter is coming home today. We will only cover lessons 1 and 2, so don't be surprised when you see the Family Letter for Unit 10 coming home this week, too.
Social Studies - Write one short paragraph about each place we visited in Sacramento. Use the notes your group put together before Spring Break and the Writing Frame paper to help you.

Math Unit 8 test is tomorrow. The students have both a study guide and review packet to help them prepare. If you have time, quiz your child on the method used to find the area for a parallelogram and a triangle. This was just introduced and some students may not be ready for a test on it.
The only other homework for the rest of the week is to correct the Unit 7 test they got back today.
Sacramento Field Trip is this Thursday! See you at 7:10 that morning.

Monday, April 1st
Reminders: Cookie dough orders and money are due Wednesday, April 3rd. Checks should be made out to CLH&SC. Also, we go to Sacramento this Thursday. Students need to be here at 7:10 and they need their own sack lunch in a disposable bag, not a lunch box. Watch the weather. Right now, The Weather Channel is showing a 60% chance of rain in Sac. on Thursday.
The only other homework this week will be making test corrections to the Unit 7 test, which the students will get back tomorrow. Corrections are due Friday.
